#REDIRECT [[VI.C. Guidelines for Sending E-mails]]
All co-op members and anyone else interested would be able to receive regular email updates of co-op wide happenings. E-mails could contain information like:
*Alumni/member activities (e..g. mentorship program, dinners)
*BSC wide news (e.g. elections, Kingman's roof deck)
*Bill notices
*Board decisions (e.g. energy use, recycling)
*House events open to all co-opers (e.g. self-defense, parties)

====Why members deserve an email subscriber list:====
A. Inform paying members. The Co-op management and Board of Directors makes many decisions on behalf of members that many times the members, for whatever reason, do not know about. As people who pay their rents, members deserve to know what goes on.

B. Share resources. Sometimes a very interesting event is sponsored by a house, but only one or two other houses know about it.  For instance, Stebbins once organized a workshop on self-defense, but could only attract a few people from the other houses.

C. Build community. By knowing what's going on in the system and taking part in other house activities, members will be interact with one another and could build ties.

====Use:====
A. No “spamming.”  The list will be constructed such that no one, including those on the list, can send a message to all the others.

B. “Suppressed recipient list.”

C. No more than one weekly email sent.

D. Members can easily unsubcribe at any time.

E. Administered by Assistant to the Member Resources Supervisor. (the position has not been officially changed yet)

====Format:====
A. Three categories of information: Central, Board, Events

B. The email arrives with a table-of-contents style summary of all the information it contains.

C. Below the summary is the content with about a paragraph per item.

D. Links are provided for more information.

====Collection:====
Emails are collected with applications and from house managers when they turn in house list.
