III: Reservations by Existing Members

A. Spring to Fall Renewal Process:

1. Current members receive notice that they may renew their contract for the following academic year
a. They may reserve a space in their current unit (“squatters”)
b. They may apply to transfer for the following academic year. Members requesting transfer may reserve a space in their current unit in the case that they do not receive the transfer.
c. Current members who do not renew are considered to be leaving the organization at the end of the current contract term
2. The Housing Department determines vacancies in the apartments and notifies eligible members if they have pull-in rights
a. The Housing Department manually assigns all valid pull-in requests submitted before the deadline
3. Apartment Bidding Process
a. The Housing Department determines which apartment spaces are open for bidding
b. Bidding takes place; refer to the Bidding policy, Section XXII
c. The Housing Department manually assigns all bid-winners
4. The Housing Department makes an assignment for all remaining vacancies
a. After squatters, all current members wishing to transfer, old members returning to the BSC, new members, and all other eligible applicants for BSC housing for the academic year are ordered on the waitlist according to Section V. A.
5. Contracts are sent out with a deadline to sign and pay a security deposit (if applicable)
6. The Bookkeeping Department will fee assess all members holding a signed contract for the following academic year
a. Contract holders are responsible for paying their first rent installment after they have been charged and before the due date

1. Current members receive notice that they may cancel the Spring portion of their contract or request a transfer for the Spring term
a. They may cancel the Spring portion of their contract
b. They may apply to transfer for the upcoming Spring term. Members requesting transfer may reserve a space in their current unit in the case that they do not receive the transfer.
2. The Housing Department determines vacancies in the apartments and notifies eligible members if they have pull-in rights
