DUTIES:

The Central Office Receptionists are responsible for handling questions, problems, payments, applications, etc., from co-op members and the public. This position involves extensive public contact, telephone work, paperwork & data entry. The receptionists answer the phones; work at the counter; open the office; distribute and answer mail; and write up payments. REQUIREMENTS:

This job requires a lot of patience and tact, as well as a good manner (and willingness to to work with) the public. You must be able to work 15-20 hrs/week between 10am & 5pm Monday thru Friday. For the current summer, we want applicants who are willing to come in 4-5 days per week. You must be dependable, friendly, and able to keep calm in a hectic office situation. You must have good data-entry skills, type at least 50 wpm, and must be able to follow directions and learn quickly. You must have 6 months prior work experience, including some office experience. It helps if you know something about BSC policies and application procedures, but it is not a prerequisite. You must be a BSC member and meet student eligibility guidelines to hold this job. You cannot hold a unit-level manager position or be on the Board of Directors and hold a Central Level job.

HOURS/CREDIT:

This is a 20-hour/week position for Summer and Spring, and 15-hour/week position in Fall. This position is compensated with a rent credit at $18.00/hour for 15 hours/week in Summer/Spring (10 hours/week in Fall) and fulfills your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment dwellers and Summer residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $18/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement at the apartments or during the Summer. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated. This position starts Spring 2021 and lasts indefinitely. A long-term commitment is preferred.
